Durable and Attractive Concrete Pathways for Your Home

Concrete walkway lined with plants leads to a fenced backyard | Conker

At Conker, a pathway is more than concrete. It is the connection between the spaces you use every day. A link between home and garden. A guide between zones. A small detail that quietly shapes how you move through your property. We build concrete pathways with intention so they feel considered, functional and part of the home, not an afterthought poured at the end of a project.

Across Brisbane and the Gold Coast, we design and construct pathways that complement the landscape, improve access and protect the home from long-term issues. Whether it is a straight modern walkway, a winding garden path or a full property connection linking your driveway, pool and alfresco, every pathway begins with understanding how you use the space.

The conditions across South East Queensland demand proper planning. Heavy Brisbane rainfall, Gold Coast humidity, clay soils, coastal exposure and termite risk all influence how a pathway should be built. We work with the land, not against it. Every slope, joint and fall is considered so water moves away from structures and barriers remain visible and compliant.

You also get the benefit of a team who understand both concrete and landscaping. That means cleaner transitions, better level management and a finish that looks intentional, not improvised.

If you want a pathway that feels right underfoot, supports your home and lifts the look of your outdoor spaces, this is where we do our best work as a trusted concrete pathway installer in Brisbane and the Gold Coast.

Concrete Pathways That Connect More Than Just Spaces

A pathway should feel natural. It should guide you from one space to the next without forcing direction. When designed properly, it becomes part of the way your home functions rather than just a surface to walk on.

One of our favourite projects was a 1300m² concrete pathway on a private property, connecting a home to a tennis and basketball court. What started as a functional walkway became something much more. The owners now walk the loop each evening while the kids ride beside them. That is what we mean by designing for lifestyle, not layout.

Across Brisbane and the Gold Coast, we plan concrete pathways around the way you live. We consider where the sun hits, the direction people naturally walk, how water behaves on the block, where the garden sits, how the yard slopes and how each zone interacts with the next.

Curves, transitions, lighting positions and pad sizes are all planned with purpose.

We also design for longevity. Pathways that fall back toward homes, cover weep holes or sit against walls without clearance can cause dampness, termite issues and insurance complications down the track. We take the opposite approach. Everything slopes away from structures, barriers remain visible and compliant, and the pathway becomes part of the property’s drainage strategy.

Whether you want a clean modern line, a curved garden walk or a premium architectural sequence, our focus is simple. Create a concrete pathway that looks good, feels good and works with your home for decades.

Concrete Pathway Finishes That Suit Brisbane and the Gold Coast Conditions

A pathway needs to look the part, feel safe in wet weather and hold up to daily use. We help you choose a finish that suits both your property and the local environment.

Exposed Aggregate Pathways
A popular choice across Brisbane and coastal suburbs thanks to its strength, texture and natural slip resistance. Our exclusive Holcim Geostone blends include premium white cement options ideal for architectural homes. All exposed aggregate pathways achieve a P5 slip rating.

Coloured Concrete Pathways
Rich modern tones, warm neutrals and subtle shades that tie your pathway into the home’s façade, landscaping and outdoor palette. When placed and sealed correctly, coloured concrete performs well in both Brisbane’s heat and the Gold Coast’s coastal conditions.

Honed and Architectural Pathways
Smooth, refined finishes that elevate the look of entry sequences, alfresco zones and premium outdoor spaces. Designed to meet slip requirements without compromising on style.

Plain and Brushed Pathways
Clean, strong and practical. Perfect for side access, utility zones and long runs where durability, safety and low maintenance are the priority.

All pathways are installed to achieve P4 or P5 slip ratings and comply with QBCC and National Construction Code requirements. Whether your home is on a Brisbane hillside or a Gold Coast beachfront block, you get a finish that looks great and performs consistently.

Concrete Pathways Built to Protect and Elevate Your Property

A pathway should enhance your home, not create future issues. That is why we design and build every pathway with drainage, safety and long-term performance at the forefront.

Across Brisbane and the Gold Coast, the most common issues we see are pathways falling toward houses, hidden weep holes, covered termite barriers and water pooling where it shouldn’t. These problems are entirely avoidable with proper planning. We make sure your pathway supports the home by directing water away from structures, keeping barriers visible and preserving compliance.

We construct pathways that withstand climate extremes. Brisbane’s storms, Gold Coast humidity, clay movement, UV exposure and salt air all influence how concrete should be placed, jointed and sealed. Our team understands these conditions and builds accordingly.

Our experience extends beyond residential work. As trusted concrete pathway contractors, we ensure every project is completed with precision, safety, and long-lasting results. We regularly build pathways for schools, community facilities, acreage properties, body corporates and commercial spaces where timing, logistics and safety are essential. You get a calm process, a tidy site and a team who communicate clearly from start to finish.

The outcome is a pathway that feels clean and intentional, improves access throughout the property and strengthens the overall flow of your outdoor spaces.

If you want a pathway built with care, clarity and long-term thinking, we would love to help.

ROWES BAY
Resurfaced Double Driveway, Garage & Pathways

Our clients recently completed a major home renovation in the upscale neighborhood of Rowes Bay in Brisbane. After the renovation, they contacted us to enhance the plain grey concrete surfaces on their property. We performed a full concrete resurfacing of the double driveway, internal garage, and pathways using Dulux Avista French Grey with charcoal and white flecks. The project was completed with two coats of Dulux Avista Extended Wear clear sealer.

As with this project, some clients choose to continue resurfacing into their internal garage instead of traditional epoxy flake flooring, which is prone to hot tire pick up in Queensland. Resurfacing the garage floor provides a continuous, seamless look without the need for additional building finishes

FAQs

How much does a concrete pathway cost?

Costs depend on length, width, thickness, access and finish. Standalone pathway projects generally start from several thousand dollars, and many are completed as part of a larger driveway, yard or pool upgrade.

What finishes do you recommend for safe, non-slip pathways?

We often use exposed aggregate, broomed or light textured finishes that achieve P4 or P5 slip ratings. The right choice depends on slope, use and how the path ties into the rest of your hardscape.

Can concrete pathways cause damp or termite issues around my home?

They can if they are built incorrectly. We design pathways so they fall away from the house, keep weep holes and termite barriers clear, and maintain the right levels around your slab. Done properly, they protect your home rather than work against it.

Do I need council approval for concrete pathways?

Most standard pathways around the home do not require council approval, but there are exceptions for certain boundary conditions and easements. We will let you know if approvals or extra checks are needed.

Can you connect new concrete pathways to my existing concrete or landscaping?

Yes. We regularly design pathways that link existing slabs, pool areas, gardens and driveways into a single, cohesive layout. Expansion joints and detailing are used where needed so everything performs as one system.
