Strong, Durable and Built for Everyday Living
A resurfaced concrete driveway or outdoor area must do more than look good — it needs to stand up to real life. That’s why Conker uses Dulux Avista resurfacing systems with compressive strengths commonly between 40 and 60 MPa, meaning the finished concrete surface often performs better than standard residential concrete mixes across Brisbane and the Gold Coast.
Durability starts with proper preparation. Our team grinds the concrete, repairs cracks using high-quality structural epoxy and reinstates control joints to allow natural movement. This ensures the resurfacing bonds correctly, resists delamination and remains stable under daily use.
Every concrete resurfacing project completed by Conker achieves a certified P5 slip rating, making it suitable for driveways, crossovers, pool surrounds, common walkways and sloped areas where safety cannot be compromised. This level of grip provides confidence in wet weather and complies with both residential and commercial requirements.
Resurfacing works on plain concrete, exposed aggregate, stamped or stencilled finishes and even tiled surfaces once prepared. Once sealed, the surface is comfortable underfoot and durable enough for regular vehicle and foot traffic.
For families wanting a strong, low-maintenance upgrade, resurfacing provides long-term durability and excellent value without the disruption of replacement.

Strata committees appreciate resurfacing because it offers predictable long-term maintenance through our bi-annual reseal program, ensuring the surface remains protected and visually consistent. Architects and builders value the design flexibility, modern aesthetic and reliable performance.

Save Time and Money with a Fast, Reliable Upgrade
Resurfacing is one of the quickest and most cost-effective ways to upgrade your concrete without the disruption of demolition. For Brisbane and Gold Coast families, resurfacing delivers the appearance of new concrete at a significantly lower cost, with most projects completed within two to four days depending on size and condition.
Our concrete resurfacing preparation process includes grinding, crack repair and reinstating control joints to support natural slab movement. This ensures the surface sits flat and performs well over time. While resurfacing can’t prevent natural movement, it provides a clean, easily maintained finish if minor changes occur.
Because resurfacing avoids excavation and heavy machinery, there’s no risk of damaging surrounding gardens, fences or structures.
This makes it ideal for established homes, tight-access properties and renovations where minimal disruption is essential.
When paired with Conker’s bi-annual reseal program, your resurfacing maintains its protection, appearance and durability long-term. The combination of Dulux Avista materials and proper maintenance creates a solution that lasts far beyond normal expectations.
For homeowners wanting a fast, modern and reliable upgrade, resurfacing provides immediate value and long-term peace of mind.

Modern Concrete Resurfacing Finishes Designed for Better Living
Resurfacing today is driven by design. Homeowners across Brisbane and the Gold Coast are choosing modern, architectural finishes that bring a clean, cohesive look to their outdoor areas. The Dulux Avista colour range offers soft greys, deep charcoals, bright whites and natural stone-inspired tones that elevate the appearance of both new and established homes.
Our resurfacing team can create simple, minimal finishes or more expressive designs such as contrasting borders, feature areas, bespoke patterns or even half-court basketball keys. The flexibility of the Dulux system allows for both subtle enhancements and more creative transformations.
Once installed, resurfacing is comfortable underfoot and provides high slip resistance, making it ideal for families with kids, pets or active outdoor spaces. It’s also softer than exposed aggregate, helping create a more comfortable outdoor environment.
Maintenance is simple. A light annual wash and a reseal every two years keep the surface looking fresh and performing well. With proper care, resurfacing becomes a long-term, low-maintenance upgrade that significantly improves your home’s presentation.
Whether you’re renovating, preparing a home for sale or bringing older concrete back to life, resurfacing offers a clean, modern and durable solution.
A Proven Concrete Resurfacing Process for a Strong, Seamless Finish
A great resurfacing result comes from a disciplined process. At Conker, our method has been refined through years of collaboration with Dulux Avista and hands-on experience across thousands of square metres of concrete. Every project begins with a full inspection to confirm the concrete is suitable for resurfacing. If approved, we grind the surface to raw concrete, remove any coatings or tile residue and repair all cracks using structural epoxy.
With the concrete prepared, we open the pores using an acid wash or mechanical profiling to ensure strong adhesion. Surrounding areas are masked and protected, keeping your home clean throughout the process.
Once installed, resurfacing is comfortable underfoot and provides high slip resistance, making it ideal for families with kids, pets or active outdoor spaces. It’s also softer than exposed aggregate, helping create a more comfortable outdoor environment.
We then apply a primer followed by multiple Dulux Avista polymer-modified coats that create your chosen colour and texture. Each layer is applied with precision to ensure a consistent, durable finish. To complete the project, we seal the surface with a high-performance clear sealer that enhances colour depth, resists weathering and delivers a certified P5 slip rating for safety.
This process ensures a reliable, long-lasting result that looks great and performs beautifully. Paired with Conker’s bi-annual reseal program, your resurfaced areas stay protected, refreshed and supported with ongoing warranty coverage.

ROWES BAY
Resurfaced Double Driveway, Garage & Pathways
Our clients recently completed a major home renovation in the upscale neighborhood of Rowes Bay in Brisbane. After the renovation, they contacted us to enhance the plain grey concrete surfaces on their property. We performed a full concrete resurfacing of the double driveway, internal garage, and pathways using Dulux Avista French Grey with charcoal and white flecks. The project was completed with two coats of Dulux Avista Extended Wear clear sealer.
As with this project, some clients choose to continue resurfacing into their internal garage instead of traditional epoxy flake flooring, which is prone to hot tire pick up in Queensland. Resurfacing the garage floor provides a continuous, seamless look without the need for additional building finishes
FAQs
What is concrete resurfacing and does it really work?
Concrete resurfacing is a high-performance overlay system applied over existing concrete to give it a fresh, modern finish without full demolition. When the base slab is sound and the preparation is done properly, resurfacing is incredibly effective. With regular cleaning and a bi-annual reseal program, you can keep your concrete looking brand new for decades.
How much does concrete resurfacing cost?
Resurfacing is usually significantly cheaper than full replacement. As a broad guide, simple projects on good concrete start from around $6,000, and most 100 m²+ Conker resurfacing projects sit in the low five-figure range, depending on preparation, access and finish. It is rarely the “cheap and cheerful” option, but it is almost always the smartest one.
Is concrete resurfacing worth it compared to new concrete?
If your slab is structurally sound, yes. Resurfacing lets you skip demolition, trucks and weeks of disruption while still getting a finish that looks new. In many cases, it comes in at around one quarter to one third of the cost of full replacement, even when grinding is required, and it avoids the risk of damaging services, landscaping or surrounding structures.
Can you resurface exposed aggregate, painted or stencilled concrete?
Yes, in most cases. We mechanically grind off coatings, paint, sealer and high spots to get back to clean, raw concrete. From there we repair cracks, prime and apply Dulux Avista resurfacing systems in your chosen finish. If the existing substrate is failing or moving, we’ll recommend replacement rather than resurfacing.
How long does concrete resurfacing last?
With the right preparation and ongoing maintenance, resurfacing can last as long as traditional concrete. Our systems are extremely strong and are backed by our warranty when maintained through a regular cleaning and resealing program.
Is resurfaced concrete slippery on driveways, slopes or pool areas?
No. Our resurfacing systems are designed to achieve a P5 slip rating, which is suitable for driveways, slopes, stairs and pool surrounds. You get a finish that feels good underfoot without sacrificing safety.
How long does the resurfacing process take and when can I use the area?
Most residential projects take between two and four days on site, depending on preparation and size. You can usually walk on the surface within 24 hours and drive on it once the sealer has cured, which we will guide you through at handover. Larger commercial or body corporate projects may take longer, but they are pre-planned to minimise resident disruption and maximise client satisfaction.
How do I look after resurfaced concrete?
A simple clean with mild detergent such as sugar soap, a broom and a hose is usually enough. Avoid harsh solvents and high-pressure cleaning on full blast. We recommend resealing every two years to keep the colour rich, the surface protected and your warranty active.
How long does concrete resurfacing last compared to new concrete?
Longevity depends on the substrate, usage, and maintenance. As accredited Dulux Avista applicators, we back our work with a 6-year warranty and recommend resealing every 2 years. During reseals we also complete touch-up repairs, keeping your concrete looking brand new indefinitely. The system cures to around three times the strength of your existing slab, but if the underlying concrete is moving or failing, cracks may eventually reappear.
Can you resurface over cracked or damaged concrete?
Yes. Cracks can be repaired before resurfacing, but due to soil movement and concrete’s weight (approx. 2.4t per 10m²), cracks may return. While we haven’t yet found a product that allows us to guarantee crack repairs, we’re actively pursuing this goal.
What finish options are available?
Dulux Avista offers 20+ colours and stencil patterns, plus we create custom looks such as exposed-aggregate effects with flecks, hand-taped stencils, and even basketball court markings. Our focus is on natural, architectural finishes that elevate the look of your concrete.
How long does the concrete resurfacing process take?
It depends on preparation. Grinding back can take 1–2 days, and from there our teams typically complete ~50m² per day. Larger jobs (like body corporates) may require extra resources to minimise disruption.
Is resurfaced concrete durable for driveways and pool areas?
Yes. Once cured, resurfacing is around three times stronger than the slab beneath, ideal for driveways and even commercial settings. Around pools, the P5 slip rating provides safety, and solvent-based sealing protects against pool chemicals.
How should I maintain resurfaced concrete?
Mix sugar soap concentrate in a 9-litre watering can, apply, leave for 10 minutes, and hose off. For stubborn areas, use a broom or pressure washer. Avoid solvent cleaners, which may cause white patches.
Can concrete resurfacing be done on sloped driveways or stairs?
Yes. The P5 slip rating makes it suitable for slopes and stairs. Our unique wear-factor method ensures grip without damaging the finish.
What’s the cost difference between resurfacing and replacement?
Resurfacing is generally 70% cheaper than replacement, with fewer risks (no excavation, machinery damage, or dust/noise). During COVID, skyrocketing steel, labour, and concrete costs doubled replacement prices — a key reason resurfacing became such a popular, smart alternative.
Does concrete resurfacing add value to my home?
Yes, significantly. Real estate agents confirm curb appeal is critical, and resurfacing offers one of the best returns for dollar spent compared to full replacement.
