Resurface

Transform Your Space with Concrete Resurfacing in Sydney

Give your old, tired driveway a new lease on life with Sydney’s concrete resurfacing specialists – Conker Concreting.

Over time, concrete can deteriorate from vehicle traffic, rain, sun, and the rigours of everyday use. This relentless exposure can leave it looking less than its best, worn down and weathered by the passage of time – that’s where we come in.

Utilising a polymer modified cementitious spray-on topping, our team can effectively renovate and transform your existing concrete to save you time, money, and the hassle of removing and replacing your concrete. Whether you’re looking to revamp your driveway, pool surrounds, pathways, or any other concrete hardstand area, concrete resurfacing can be an ideal, cost-effective option around your home.

Understanding The Benefits of Concrete Resurfacing

Concrete resurfacing isn’t just a fast, cost-effective way to breathe new life into your tired concrete surfaces, it’s also a long-lasting, durable concrete solution.

When it comes to choosing between resurfacing and replacing concrete surfaces, one of the main advantages of resurfacing is the added strength and longevity. With a compressive strength of 40-60 MPa, Conker’s polymer modified cementitious spray-on resurfacing solution can effectively increase concrete strength by 2-3 times when compared to traditional concrete.

With proper aftercare, resurfacing can last just as long as traditional wet concrete, making it an ideal solution for residential properties in Sydney.

From the very beginning I felt confident with Conker. I was always kept up to date with each stage and who would be coming and when. The team were very friendly and courteous, and of course the project looks amazing! I couldn't be happier - I have already recommended them to family and friends.

The Value Proposition

Concrete Resurfacing Sydney

Concrete resurfacing isn’t just great value – it’s also less disruptive than replacing your existing driveway, pool surrounds, or pathways. Unlike repaving which requires total demolition of an existing surface followed by subsurface prep which can take weeks or even months, concrete resurfacing can be applied and walked on in the same day. Depending on the size and condition of your existing concrete surfaces, resurfacing a concrete driveway will take between two to four days for a typical home.

When compared to replacement, resurfacing your concrete is around 50% cheaper whilst also offering a lifespan of 15+ years with proper care. In addition to being more cost effective and faster than replacing your existing concrete surfaces, resurfacing is also a greener alternative. Replacing concrete involves removing and disposing of large quantities of materials which will, in general, end up in landfills. On the other hand, opting for resurfacing means that we can effectively rejuvenate your existing surfaces while lowering the need for new, non-natural resources.

The Growth of Concrete Resurfacing
in Australia

The Growth of Concrete Resurfacing in Australia

Residential and commercial concrete resurfacing has been a popular choice in Australia for decades. As architectural trends have come and gone, so too has the way that Sydney-siders chose to resurface their concrete. Starting with stencil patterns in the 1980s and transitioning to Terracotta in the late 1990s and early 2000s, resurfacing trends and technology have continued to evolve giving way to new styles and designs. Today, our clients opt for plain colours or colours with flecks which mimic the look of wet concrete, such as exposed aggregate.

Over the years, the durability and longevity of concrete resurfacing has improved dramatically. A resurfacing job in the 1990s or 2000s is not an accurate reflection of the quality that can be expected with today’s materials and know-how. With an annual wash and a bi-annual (every two years) reseal, a lifespan of 15+ years is the new norm – a far cry from the early days of concrete resurfacing.

Concrete Resurfacing Suitability – The Initial Assessment

Before we can get to work, our team first needs to assess your existing concrete surfaces to determine whether you’re a suitable candidate for resurfacing. Concrete surfaces with a sound structure that shows signs of wear and tear, cracks, discoloration, or even pitting are usually a good candidate for concrete resurfacing. Conversely, concrete surfaces that have severe damage including large cracks, uneven foundations, or exposed reinforcement may require more extensive repairs.

Our skilled team of concrete experts will thoroughly inspect your concrete surfaces for signs of wear, previous repairs, and determine the suitability of resurfacing for your concrete surfaces. If our team examines your driveway, patio, pool surrounds, or pathways and determines that they are ready for a new lease on life, we’ll move on to the next step.

Our Resurfacing Process

Once we’ve mapped out the scope of the project, our team will get to work by filling in any minor or major cracks using a specialised epoxy mix. This mix will create a seamless base and ensures there are no imperfections or unevenness on the surface before we commence the next step. Next, an acid and water mix are applied to the open pores of the concrete to create a strong bond for the resurfacing product.

To ensure that our team don’t leave behind a mess, we are fastidious in our preparation. The Conker team will install protective plastic to protect your home from any overspray. After applying a concrete primer, we can then move on to the next stage – resurfacing your concrete surfaces. The base boat and texture costs are sprayed on in your desired colour and finish. Once dried, a solvent-based clear coat is rolled on to protect the colour and ensure the longevity of the resurfacing product.
