Inside Conker | November — Finishing Strong
From Mike:
Every month I send a note to the Conker team about where we’re at and where we’re heading. These are real updates — part reflection, part reminder — and we’re sharing them here so you can see what goes into building Conker from the inside out.
Good morning team,
We’re coming to the close of another month and inching closer to the end of the year. As I write this, the sun is peeking through the clouds and lighting up the room in orange — perfect timing. I’ll take it as a sign we’re on the right path.
October has been an interesting one. It’s brought opportunities, clarity, and a deeper understanding of who we need to be — the type of projects we want to deliver, and what will help us achieve both our personal and professional goals.
🌟 October Highlights
- Partnership progress: We had a great meeting with Holcim exploring innovative products that align with Conker’s sustainability goals.
- Geostone collaboration: Discussions continued around enhancing our exposed aggregate offerings to create something unique in the market.
- Community involvement: We sponsored the Elite 38 Basketball Excellence Camp, which saw 13 players earn U.S. scholarships. Next year, it’ll expand into the Elite 48, playing for the Conker Cup — an incredible milestone for both the athletes and our brand.
- Team return: A warm welcome back to our resurfacing crew after their U.S. basketball trip — they’ve hit the ground running.
- Recognition: Conker was listed as #1 on Brisbane’s Best for concrete with an A+ rating — something to be genuinely proud of.
Everyone has done a fantastic job living last month’s theme of Power, Discipline, and Results. The work, attitude, and consistency across the team show how far we’ve come.
⚖️ Healthy vs. Annoying Challenges
This month, I’ve been thinking about the difference between healthy challenges and annoying challenges.
Every day brings both.
Healthy challenges stretch us — they can be frustrating, but they carry excitement because we know they’re moving us closer to our goals. Annoying challenges, on the other hand, drain energy and pull us off course.
The lesson? Stay locked on the challenges that push you forward, not the ones that pull you sideways.
🎯 November Theme: Finishing Strong
Finish what we start
No loose ends, no unfinished jobs, no half measures.
Clean transitions
Every project should hand over cleanly — photos done, clients followed up, and every detail tied off.
Professional pride
How we end the year is how clients remember us.
Reflect and reset
Take stock of what worked and what can improve. November is a bridge month — not a burnout month.
🧭 Looking Ahead
As we bring the year to a close, my request for you this November is simple:
Get clear on what your goals are for 2026.
Tie those goals to your daily actions. When the days get tough, you’ll know you’re still heading in the right direction.
For me, next year is about refining our service offerings, improving systems and processes, and strengthening our content and brand presence. January will be a fresh start — an opportunity to build something truly impressive together.
I’m proud of every one of you.
Let’s finish strong.
— Mike
